Why this challenge? | Introduction
Are you a graduate surveyor working towards your RICS APC Final Assessment?
Have you ever planned to do your final assessment and keep on putting it off because you are too busy or something else gets in the way?
You are not the only one. This is common. Somehow work deadlines take a priority and before you know it, 5 years down the line you are still rescheduling the final assessment date.
This challenge is to stop you from putting your career on the back burner. To kick-start you into taking action and keep up the momentum.
Each day of the challenge you get lessons and action steps to propel you forward. All the lessons are there for a reason. I am here to help you move forward and promise to support you.
The criteria is to play full out. And to encourage full participation. I even throw in some prizes that help with your APC!

The Pillars of Competence
In this video, Knight uses an analogy of the stability of a 3 legged table to demonstrate a solid foundation that will not rock. Similarly you need the foundations of your APC to be based on the pillars of knowledge, experience, interview and presentation. Knight explains why a weakness in any are of these pillars would mean that you get referred.

Watch the video and then go ahead with todayā€™s growthwork. Download the How Competent Are you tool and go ahead ā€“ use it to identify any gaps in your experience.
For todayā€™s exercise you need to do it for one core competency. The exercise can be repeated for other competencies afterwards.
